Wow, did you strike a chord. For 30 years I’ve slaughtered audiences with my Stand Up Comedy. Social Media & Industry professionals (people with zero talent who feed on the talented) began, in the past few years, to put a major focus on “my brand” and pumping out video content. This was foreign to me. I don’t know what I do, but crowds think it’s great. I also am a performer and find it nearly impossible to portray stage me in a few seconds, while sitting alone with my phone.
As a novice blog writer (with 20 publications on Medium and Substack to date), I let MY voice be heard. Not the voice of what people are used to reading and therefore what is expected. Sure, my writing can always be better, stronger, more concise. But, that same uneasy feeling that I’m not doing it right, because I’m not doing it like everyone else, is now the demon I wrestle. It actually has thwarted my creativity. I’m sorry to ramble on. No plug, but I do invite you to see for yourself - https://crookedviews.medium.com ... Being a Purist is very lonely, if you never hit pay dirt. Then, they call you a genius.
